Shi’ites march in Abuja, demand end to killings in Palestine

As Muslims enter the last week of Ramadan, the global leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Ruhullah Al-Musawi Al-Khomeini has invited Muslims and non-Muslims to show solidarity with the people of Palestine against the state of Israel.

The Imam declared the last Friday of each Ramadan as International Quds Day, and since 1980, the Quds procession has been conducted globally in Britain, France, Sweden, America, Germany, Canada, Australia, and numerous countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and other countries.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) under the leadership of Sayyid Dr. Ibraheem El-Zakzaky has been observing this event for decades in Nigeria.

A statement by the Islamic movement signed by Professor Dauda Nalado, said the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, 1445 H, is International Quds Day.

The statement said the activities marking this day are happening amidst attacks by what they described as the occupier regime on the Palestinians.

“For six months now, the Zionist State has killed almost 33, 000 Palestinians and wounded almost 80, 000, of whom more than half are women and children. They have destroyed buildings and turned Gaza City into rubble. They have violated all international human rights rules and committed war crimes with impunity.

“It is pertinent to remind us that since the illegal state was carved out in 1948, the Palestinians have been subjugated and subjected to oppressive rule, controlling and humiliating every aspect of their daily lives. This current brutality by the Zionists was launched after a retaliative “Aqsa storm operation” by the Palestinians on 7th October 2023. These developments signal the final blow to Zionism.

“Today, all people and nations with humanity have a duty to condemn the genocide against the Palestinian population and stop it. Unfortunately, the United States and the United Kingdom are supporters of this genocide. They empower these war crimes. They even attack Yemen for supporting the Palestinian course. The hypocritical stance of some Arab puppet regimes makes matters even worse.

“Masses in the Arab world must wake up from their deep slumber and do what is incumbent upon them so as to secure self-determination and do away with their puppet regimes that are controlled from Tel Aviv, Washington, London, and Paris.

“Thanks to the full support of South Africa and the axis of resistance, which comprises Iran, Lebanon (Hizbullah), Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.

“We condemn the continued brutal genocide of the Palestinian population and support the oppressed people of Palestine in their just struggle.

“We call on the Nigerian state to sever diplomatic ties with the genocidal Zionist state of Israel. We call for a permanent ceasefire and a comprehensive package for the freedom of Palestine”, the statement added.
