President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had been called upon to stop the corruption of the palliative system designed to assuage economic challenges while the nation worked on these challenges for a better outcome.
The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralph Nwosu, made this call in Abuja.
He said the way the present government has introduced palliative governance as a tool for development is evil and must be stopped forthwith.
He wondered how President Tinubu, who had been seeking to lead the nation for over two decades, would emerge and the nation would be bleeding like this.
“Today, with 25 years of democratic government and the incumbent president as one of the leaders of NADECO, how do we explain the valley season that we have found ourselves in?
Instead, the President should convert the resources used to purchase palliative, arms, and equip the military to stamp out insecurity while the people return to the farm to engage in production for farm produce.
He said it was a waste of resources to throw money into the palliative to promote a system that was not sustainable given the huge population and the need to be self-sufficient
“During President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s presidency, the palliative system of governance is not an option as it is unhealthy and demeaning.
A government attempting to correct a clear policy summersault with a refugee camp food sharing system is evil, sacrilegious, dehumanising, and will create ill-will that can only result in a circus of corruption and frustration.”
He said empowering the legislature to give out palliatives in their constituencies and governors to do the same in their states amounted to the promotion of a bad development system that does not promote hard work ethics among the population.
Chief Okey said the system was evil and remained unsustainable to meet the needs of the nation and its population, needlessly talking about development.
Call on governors to stop their stranglehold on their states and channel state resources towards empowering people with various marketable skills to boost the nation.
“It is easy to blame the military for our development. Is it really true? Some of us were hopeful in our struggle to get the military to focus on their constitutional responsibility of defending our national enterprise.
“Action, not hope, is what we need to restructure and resolve our politics, democracy, and nation-building enterprises.
Conclusion: We certainly need a new beginning. Pointing fingers at recrimination is not what transformational leaders do.”
To this end, Nwosu said twenty-two of the thoughtful and proactive leaders of political parties blazing the trail have joined hands with our party, ADC, to work for a better Nigeria.
