General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev (Dr) Sam Aboyeji has stated that lack of fear of God is a major cause of corruption in Nigeria.
The cleric made this statement at the church’s Ajebo Lagos-Ibadan Campground during an interview with TRIBUNE ONLINE on Monday, April 8.
Aboyeji said the country would never get it right until it is ready to tackle the issue of corruption headlong.
“Nigeria is a great country that has been plagued by a major problem for many years – corruption. The issue of corruption has affected the country’s economy, leading to its decline over time.
“To solve the issue of corruption, there is a need for a high level of professional discipline. This means that those responsible for managing the affairs of the country must exhibit a high level of integrity and professionalism in their work.
“In addition, there is a need to improve consequence management, so that those who engage in corrupt practices are punished accordingly,” he opined.
