5,700 indigent students apply for Kogi bursary awards

Kogi State Government has unveiled portal for the payment of bursary awards for students in tertiary institutions just over 5,700 indigent students have applied in the first two days before unveiling on Monday.

After several years of nonpayment of scholarships, students in tertiary institutions will now have a sigh of relief as they can now register for the exercise as of Tuesday, sixteenth of this month.

The programme tagged Ododo Students Support 2024, is part of the benevolence of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to cushion the hardship faced by students at this critical time of economic quagmire.

Speaking at the unveiling of the portal in Lokoja on Monday, Kogi State Education Commissioner, Wemi Jones said the reintroduction of the Bursary award is to support students in achieving their dreams.

He noted that the scholarship is part of the ten-year Kogi State Development plan and encouraged students to enroll for the exercise.

On his part, the Executive Chairman of Kogi State Scholarship Board, Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji noted that the bursary Award is strictly for students of Kogi Origin in tertiary institutions across the country.

According to him, students are to log in to www.scholarshipboard.kogistate.gov.ng even with their smartphones.

He assured that the exercise will be transparent, adding that registration will close on April thirtieth.

President of National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), Comrade Jeremiah Elukpo urged Kogi Students to register for the bursary, saying the State Government meant well for them.
