After the tragic murder of Mr Alaba Abe Excel, a Coordinator of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in Supare, Akoko Southwest Local Council of Ondo State, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC) has raised concerns about the safety of other campaigners across the state.
In a statement issued by Dr. Marindoti Oludare, the Director of Contact and Engagement, LACO-FSIC condemned the brutal killing of Excel in Supare Akoko, expressing deep sorrow and outrage. The incident, which occurred on a Saturday night, saw Excel shot dead by unknown assailants in his hometown.
Oludare, speaking on behalf of the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization, denounced the violence, emphasizing that Excel’s murder not only robbed them of a dedicated colleague but also cast a dark shadow on the nation’s conscience.

He pointed out that this tragic event highlighted a troubling trend emerging since the primary election, which Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa rightfully won. The lack of sportsmanship and acceptance of defeat among the losing parties has escalated into a dangerous situation where lives are now at risk.
Calling for urgent action, Oludare urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and members of the National Assembly to consider amending the constitution to allow states to establish their own police forces. He argued that the absence of local security decisions and swift response mechanisms have contributed to the rise in insecurity across Nigeria.
Recalling past incidents like the kidnapping of HRM Oba Olu Falae in 2015, Oludare stressed the need for state policing as a means to enhance local governance and ensure community safety.
He also addressed concerns raised by the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police Force, Kayode Egbetokun, emphasizing the importance of reforming the police system to ensure accountability and effectiveness at the local level.
Oludare concluded by urging for decisive action to prevent future tragedies like Excel’s murder, emphasizing the need for justice and systemic reforms to protect all members of society.
