Manchester United has been linked with Crystal Palace standout Michael Olise, but former Red Devil Mikael Silvestre remains skeptical about the likelihood of the transfer.
Reports indicate interest from Liverpool and Arsenal as well in the French U21 international, who has made a significant impact with five goals and an assist in nine Premier League games this season. Despite a hamstring injury, Olise remains a highly sought-after player, with Manchester United considering him an upgrade on Antony, who has faced challenges in his second season.
United may have an advantage in negotiations due to Palace’s interest in bringing Aaron Wan-Bissaka back to the club, potentially using him as part of the deal.
However, Silvestre doubts the feasibility of Olise joining Manchester United. “I’m not convinced that the club is capable of attracting a player like Michael at the moment,” he stated.
Valued at €27.8 million (£24m) by FootballTransfers’ algorithm, Olise is under contract with Palace until June 2027, making any potential transfer negotiation challenging. Palace is likely to demand a fee exceeding the record £50m they received for Wan-Bissaka in 2019.
The landscape may shift in the summer, particularly with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ‘sporting control’ at Old Trafford potentially altering Manchester United’s prospects.
