According to a report, Bayern Munich has engaged in discussions with AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez as a potential replacement for left-back Alphonso Davies.
Davies’ contract at the Allianz Arena expires in 2025, and talks regarding a contract extension have not made progress. This has led to speculation that Bayern could opt to sell him this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.
With Davies heavily linked to Real Madrid, Bayern is reportedly preparing for his potential departure by considering a move for Hernandez. The 26-year-old, whose brother Lucas previously played for Bayern, is reportedly open to a move to Bavaria. However, Bayern expects Milan to demand €60m for Hernandez, although formal discussions between the two clubs have not yet occurred.
Bayern’s pursuit of Hernandez is contingent upon Davies’ departure, and their new head coach will also have a say in any potential deal for the Frenchman. The club is currently seeking a successor for Thomas Tuchel, and former manager Hansi Flick has emerged as a candidate.
Recent reports from the Spanish press have cast doubt on Davies’ rumored move to Madrid due to Bayern’s high valuation of the player. As a result, Real Madrid may opt to delay any potential move until next season to secure Davies on a pre-contract agreement.
Davies recently showcased his versatility by playing as a winger during Bayern’s Champions League defeat to Madrid. Despite his efforts, Bayern’s season ended without winning a trophy for the first time since 2012.
