Chelsea has made a surprising “enquiry” for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, currently on loan at Getafe.
Greenwood has enjoyed a successful season-long loan spell at Getafe, tallying 10 goals and six assists in 32 appearances.
Speculation suggests that Barcelona or Real Madrid could be potential destinations for Greenwood, although a move to Atletico Madrid or a return to Getafe in La Liga seems more likely.
With Greenwood’s United contract expiring in the summer of 2025, decisions need to be made by Old Trafford chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe regarding the attacker’s future. Selling him while his value is high or offering him a new contract are the options.
Sources have indicated to TEAMtalk that United is open to all offers for the 22-year-old this summer, including those from rival English clubs. Additionally, Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly monitoring the situation.
TEAMtalk insider Rudy Galetti suggested that Greenwood could rejoin the United first-team squad if manager Erik ten Hag is sacked. However, with ten Hag’s position in jeopardy, Greenwood’s departure could be on the cards as well.
Chelsea is not the only Premier League club eyeing Greenwood; Aston Villa is also monitoring him in case a deal can be arranged. Nonetheless, Chelsea seems to have made the initial move.
