Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has emphasized that if Arsenal were to lose to the Red Devils, they wouldn’t deserve the Premier League title.
Arsenal is set to take on Manchester United in an away Premier League fixture at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Gunners enter the match following a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth, while Erik ten Hag’s side suffered a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
In light of Manchester United’s recent struggles, Ferdinand argued that Arsenal’s championship ambitions would be called into question should they falter against Erik ten Hag’s team.
Sharing his perspective on his FIVE Podcast, the retired English defender stated:
“If Arsenal were to suffer a defeat against Manchester United in this encounter, it would cast doubt on their claim to the championship. These are the kinds of matches that define a title race, facing a weakened and demoralized opponent with little at stake in the league.”
At present, Arsenal and Manchester City are the primary contenders vying for the Premier League title this season.
