Guido Albers, the representative of Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek, has revealed that the club is not open to selling the player to another Premier League club this summer.
Van de Beek, who was signed by Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag from Ajax in a £40 million deal in 2020, has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford. Consequently, he is expected to depart permanently at the end of the current season.
Although the 27-year-old spent the latter half of the campaign on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt, the Bundesliga outfit will not exercise their option to purchase him for £9.5 million.
“I reached an agreement with Frankfurt for him. However, Frankfurt still had an option until June 30, which they will not be activating.
“Officially, he is now set to return to Manchester United, and I am currently in discussions with him.
“Donny is not keen on remaining in the Premier League, particularly since United are not in favor of that option. It wouldn’t be the best choice for him. He needs to join a club that plays attractive football. In any case, a return to Ajax is out of the question.
“My preference was to explore opportunities in Spain, Italy, or France,” Albers told ESPN.
