Raphael Varane’s Former Club Makes Admission Prior to His Departure from Manchester United

Franck Haise, manager of RC Lens, openly expresses his enthusiasm for Raphael Varane potentially returning to the club following the expiration of his Manchester United contract. As Varane prepares to depart Old Trafford this summer after a three-season tenure that included two goals and the 2023 Carabao Cup triumph, speculation swirls regarding his next destination, especially considering he will be available on a free transfer.

While there’s interest from Saudi Arabia, Varane has previously voiced his desire to conclude his career with one of his former clubs, leaving Lens and Real Madrid as viable options after leaving United. Despite Lens facing financial constraints, Haise remains eager for a reunion with Varane.

“Raphael Varane can certainly pique my interest with his skill, leadership, personal qualities, and the value he brings,” Haise remarked. “Although financial considerations aren’t solely within my purview, I’d be overjoyed if there’s a chance.”

With Varane’s significant achievements during his tenure at Real Madrid, including three league titles, four Champions League trophies, and a 2018 FIFA World Cup win, Lens appears to be his likely destination if he remains committed to his statement of not joining another club.

While Madrid seeks a new center-back this summer, Varane’s return to the Spanish capital seems unlikely. However, he remains open to adjusting his wage demands for the right opportunity, indicating his flexibility as he evaluates his next move.
