The Lagos State Government has announced that it will be hosting a Justice Reform Summit aimed at improving the efficiency of the justice system to foster economic growth.
Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, disclosed this during a news conference in Lagos.
He stated that plans have been finalized to organize the summit in order to address the challenges currently faced by the justice system.
Pedro emphasized the need for reform to establish a modern, responsible, and effective justice system that ensures equitable access to justice.
He also highlighted the potential of an efficient justice system to bolster investor confidence and stimulate economic development.
The Summit aims to bring together key stakeholders to tackle existing challenges, propose solutions, and underscore the significance of a fair and efficient justice system in attracting investments.
The objectives of the Summit include addressing the inadequate enforcement of laws, emphasizing the role of the justice system in attracting investments, examining the causes and consequences of delays in the justice system, exploring innovative strategies to expedite legal processes, fostering collaboration among justice sector stakeholders, and restoring public and investor confidence in the administration of justice.
Pedro encouraged all stakeholders to actively engage and contribute to this collective effort.
He also invited members of the public who have interacted with the justice system and wish to share their experiences, observations, and recommendations for a better justice system to reach out to the ministry via the Summit email lagosjusticesummit2024@gmail.com, the Ministry’s email at info@lagosstatemoj.org, or through their social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram, and @Lagos MOJ. Additionally, interested members of the public are invited to attend the Summit virtually via Zoom.
