The Edo State Chapter of the Labour Party Chairman, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi, has addressed the suspension of the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, stating that it should not be viewed as a permanent measure.
Ogbaloi explained that the ward executives, who were dissatisfied with Abure’s leadership style, decided to suspend him. The local government then endorsed this decision, which was subsequently ratified by the state Chapter.
He emphasised that suspension is not equivalent to a “death warrant” and is a means to address issues within the party. Ogbaloi stressed the importance of addressing concerns raised by lower levels of party administration, highlighting the significance of grassroots politics.

Despite this internal issue, Ogbaloi expressed confidence in the party’s ability to succeed in the upcoming elections in Edo State. He mentioned widespread support for Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata’s candidacy and asserted that the party remains focused on winning the election.
He compared the situation to a corporate environment, where an issue with a single individual does not halt the entire operation. Ogbaloi concluded by stating his belief in overcoming challenges and moving forward as a united party.
