The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and players of the Super Eagles have dismissed an online report alleging that players of the team have not received payments from funds provided by the Presidency to the NFF for settling their bonuses and allowances.
Last year, the presidency disbursed funds to the NFF to settle outstanding bonuses and allowances for players and officials of various National Teams.
However, an online publication on Monday published what the NFF has described as a “fabrication of lies” and challenged the author to present evidence to support the claims.
“The report is completely false and baseless, and we urge the website owner and writer to provide evidence for their allegations. We demand the identification of the players who supposedly spoke to them, as these claims are entirely fabricated.
“Players and officials of the Super Eagles have received payments for all matches played at the AFCON, contrary to the writer’s assertion that the team was only compensated for three matches. The assertion of the team being owed for 25 matches is entirely fabricated and unfounded,” stated the NFF.
Additionally, the NFF refuted the online report’s claim that only NFF Board members and Secretariat staff have been compensated with the government funds.
“This report is disgraceful. No Super Eagles player communicated with the writer. It is entirely fabricated,” expressed a senior player to thenff.com.
“The story is utterly false. People should verify any information they encounter before publishing it. It’s evident that this writer did not verify the information; rather, they concocted it from their own imagination.”
