Carabao Cup Set to Implement Changes in Competition

The Carabao Cup is set to introduce changes to the competition starting next season.

A seeding system is expected to be implemented in response to recent controversial changes in the Champions League and the FA Cup. This system will rank clubs participating in European competitions and keep them apart in the early rounds, reducing the likelihood of big clubs facing each other early on.

Additionally, the third round of the competition will be staggered over two weeks to help ease fixture congestion.

According to The Telegraph, these changes come alongside modifications to the FA Cup and Champions League. Each Champions League team will now play an additional two group games in a league table format, and fixtures will extend into January instead of concluding in early December.
