Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been released by Leicester City following their promotion back to the Premier League.
The 27-year-old, who began his senior career at Manchester City before joining Leicester for £25 million in August 2017, spent seven years at the King Power Stadium. During his time with the Foxes, Iheanacho contributed to back-to-back fifth-place Premier League finishes and played a crucial role in their 2021 FA Cup victory, scoring the decisive goal in the semi-final against Southampton.
In the 2023/24 season, Iheanacho struggled for consistent game time, netting only six goals in 26 matches as Leicester clinched the Championship title.
With their return to the Premier League, Leicester has released Iheanacho along with Dennis Praet and Marc Albrighton.
Iheanacho made 232 appearances and scored 61 goals during his tenure at Leicester. His best season came in 2020/21, when he scored 19 goals in 39 matches, including 12 in the Premier League. He also earned the Premier League Player of the Month award for March after scoring five goals in three games.
