Northern youths group hails Gov Fubara’s leadership style in Rivers

A group known as Sahelian Youth Forum for Good Governance and Advocacy (SYFGGA) has commended Rivers State Governor, Fubara Siminalayi, for his achievements over the past one year which have laid a strong foundation for the future of the people of the state.

The group therefore expressed confidence that he will continue to lead Rivers State with the same passion and dedication till the end of his first four-year tenure.

The group made the assertion during a press conference held on Saturday at the NUJ Press Center, Bauchi in celebration of the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara’s first year in office.

Aminu Harsanu Guyaba, National President of SYFGGA, who addressed the press on behalf of the group, declared, “We assure you that Governor Fubara has our unshakable support.

“We encourage him to keep up the excellent work, knowing that he has the backing of both the people of Rivers State and supporters from across the nation.

“We gathered here today to celebrate a significant milestone in the history of Rivers State — the one-year anniversary of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration. Over the past year, Governor Fubara has demonstrated exemplary leadership, commitment, and an unyielding dedication to the progress and prosperity of Rivers state.”

The Group further stated that “From the onset of his tenure, Governor Fubara set forth an ambitious agenda aimed at transforming Rivers State into a beacon of development and excellence. His administration has made remarkable strides across various sectors, solidifying his reputation as a visionary leader.

“In the realm of infrastructure, Governor Fubara’s efforts have been nothing short of transformative. Under his leadership, numerous road projects have been initiated and completed, enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth.

“The improvements in the transportation network have not only eased the movement of goods and people but have also attracted investments, driving the economic engine of the state forward.

“Healthcare, a critical pillar of any thriving society, has seen significant advancements under Governor Fubara’s watch within one year. The construction and renovation of hospitals and health centres across the state have improved access to quality medical services for our citizens. The emphasis on healthcare is a testament to his administration’s commitment to the well-being of the people.

“Education, too, has been a cornerstone of Governor Fubara’s agenda. His administration’s investment in the renovation and construction of schools, coupled with the provision of essential learning materials, has created a conducive environment for students to thrive. These efforts ensure that the future leaders of Rivers State are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive further development.

“Moreover, Governor Fubara’s focus on agriculture has revitalised this crucial sector. By providing farmers with modern tools, resources, and training, his administration has boosted agricultural productivity, ensuring food security and creating employment opportunities for our youths,” it stressed.

According to the group, “Despite these outstanding achievements, Governor Fubara has faced considerable challenges, most notably from his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. It is no secret that attempts have been made to distract and destabilise his administration.

“These efforts, however, have been met with resilience and steadfastness. Governor Fubara’s ability to maintain focus and continue delivering on his promises, despite these adversities, speaks volumes about his strength of character and dedication to the people of Rivers State,” It added.

The group added that Governor Fubara’s leadership style is characterised by inclusiveness, transparency, and a genuine desire to uplift every citizen. “His open-door policy has fostered a sense of belonging among the people, ensuring that their voices are heard and their concerns addressed.”

It however opined that the recent defection of some State Assembly members from the PDP to the APC, and the subsequent Courts declaration of their seats vacant, highlights the political turbulence within the state.

“We commend Governor Fubara for handling this situation with grace and determination, reinforcing the principles of democracy and the rule of law. His ability to maintain stability and continue his good work despite these pressures is a testament to his leadership and commitment,” It added.

“As a Northern group, we are fully aware of the dynamics at play in Rivers State and stand in strong support of Governor Fubara. We believe in his vision and his ability to lead Rivers State to greater heights. It is our hope and firm belief that the people of Rivers State will continue to place their trust in the PDP, recognising the tangible benefits of Governor Fubara’s leadership. We are confident that they will vote for candidates from his party, ensuring that he has the support necessary to continue his transformative work.”

The group therefore called on the National Assembly to take a proactive approach in addressing the issues in Rivers State stressing that, “It is imperative that any elements or groups seeking to interfere with the governor’s work be curtailed, allowing him to govern without undue hindrance. The people of Rivers State deserve a government that is focused on their needs and aspirations, free from political turmoil.”
