“Top three candidates being considered to succeed Finidi George as the head coach of the Super Eagles.”

Three contenders are currently in the running to take over from Finidi George as the head coach of the Super Eagles.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is urgently seeking a replacement for George, who resigned recently.

Time is of the essence as the Super Eagles have upcoming fixtures scheduled for September.

According to Soccernet, the NFF is evaluating three potential coaches for the position.

First on the list is Antonio Conceicao, known for his tactical acumen and player development skills honed during his tenure with CFR Cluj in Romania, as well as coaching stints in Cyprus and Saudi Arabia. He is keen to return to coaching after being dismissed by Cameroon in 2022.

Samson Siasia is another candidate, whose coaching credentials are highlighted by successful stints with Nigeria’s U-20 and U-23 teams, achieving podium finishes, including at the Olympic Games. Despite a FIFA ban for match-fixing expiring in August, his past experiences managing the senior team make him a noteworthy contender.

The final candidate is Salisu Yusuf, celebrated for his NPFL titles with Kano Pillars and extensive experience as Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles, along with leading the Super Eagles B team. Despite previous controversy surrounding a cash gift, Yusuf has been reinstated by the NFF, underscoring their faith in his expertise in Nigerian football and player development.
