“AFCON is greater than Euros” – a Super Falcons star reacts after watching England’s dull performance.

Nigerian striker Rinsola Babajide has voiced her opinion that the 2023 AFCON tournament was superior to the 2024 Euros after England’s lackluster draw against Slovenia.

The Super Falcons star, currently with Tenerife, boldly asserted her preference for the Africa Cup of Nations over the European Championship following England’s goalless stalemate in their final Group C match. Although the draw secured England’s top spot in the group and progression to the next round, the match epitomized the underwhelming trend of this year’s Euros, disappointing many fans, including Babajide.

“After witnessing England’s disappointing performance,” Babajide remarked, “it’s clear to me that the 2024 Euros have not lived up to expectations compared to the thrilling 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.”

Babajide expressed her sentiment succinctly on her social media account, stating, “AFCON >>> Euros,” echoing the sentiments of numerous fans who share her view.

While the 2023 AFCON featured upsets, dramatic moments, and exciting end-to-end football, the 2024 Euros have been marked by cautious play, with top teams often reluctant to take risks even against weaker opponents.

In contrast to the AFCON’s memorable individual displays from players like Ademola Lookman and Emilio Nsue, star players at the Euros have struggled to shine, with own goals leading the scoring charts, contributing to a lack of excitement in this year’s European tournament.
