Italian coach Roberto Landi has expressed keen interest in managing the Nigerian national team once more, citing it as an honor to be considered amidst the ongoing search for a new Super Eagles coach. Landi took to social media to highlight his credentials and explain why he would be a strong candidate for the role.
In an interview with Punch Sports, Landi emphasized the allure of representing Nigeria, a country with a population exceeding 200 million and a rich footballing heritage. He described coaching the Super Eagles as a dream opportunity, given Nigeria’s stature as one of the world’s top 20 footballing nations. Landi, drawing comparisons with respected Serie A coaches like Massimiliano Allegri, expressed confidence in his coaching experience, having previously worked in Liberia and Romania.
Landi’s interest in the position has elicited mixed reactions from Nigerian football enthusiasts, with some supporting his candidacy while others remain skeptical. Following Finidi George’s abrupt resignation after just 47 days as head coach, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) continues its search for a successor. Several other managers, including Antonio Conceicao, Luis Fernandez, Joaquin Caparros, Didier Six, Miguel Herrera, and Didier Caparros, have also been linked to the vacant coaching position.
