According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has witnessed the departure of one of their brightest young talents to Manchester City.
Ryan McAido is set to leave Chelsea and join the Premier League champions, with Romano reporting that City managed to secure the deal despite other offers on the table for the 16-year-old.
It’s been reported that Arsenal and Liverpool also showed interest in the teenager, with Liverpool particularly eager to bolster their academy this summer, as they close in on Wolves youngster Alvin Ayman.
Earlier this year, McAido signed with the PLG agency, managed by Tyler Alexander-Arnold, brother of Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose clients include Andy Robertson and have strong ties to Liverpool.
McAido has showcased his skills in midfield during UEFA Euro U17 Championship qualification matches against Northern Ireland and Hungary, although he wasn’t selected for the final squad.
Previously, Romano had indicated that Arsenal had made the most attractive offer for the teenager, stating on X (formerly Twitter), “Arsenal have made a proposal and currently lead the race to sign Ryan McAido, a talented forward born in 2008. He is expected to leave Chelsea this summer; Arsenal’s project proposal is the best so far. McAido has represented England U16 and U17 this season.”
However, Manchester City appears to have outmaneuvered their competitors and secured McAido’s signature.
