David Beckham disclosed that he was certain he would be with his wife Victoria just weeks before they actually met.

Football legend David Beckham has shared that he always believed he would end up with his wife Victoria Beckham, even before they formally met. The couple, who are gearing up to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on July 4, reflected on their journey together. David, 49, revealed to The Sun that he first spotted Victoria, 50, in a Spice Girls music video and confidently told his Manchester United teammate Gary Neville that he would “be with her.”

“I always said that once I met Victoria, I would always be with her,” David explained. “A couple of months before we met, I was abroad with the England team. Gary Neville and I were in the hotel room and a Spice Girls video came on. I think it was ‘Say You’ll Be There.’ I pointed at the screen and told him, ‘That’s the girl for me and I’m going to get her.’”

He further described what drew him to Victoria: “It was her eyes, her face. She’s my idea of perfection.”

Victoria shared a similar sentiment, recalling, “I fancied David long before we met.” In an interview, she mentioned, “I remember doing an interview for a soccer magazine and they showed me photos of different footballers. I had no idea who he was, but I just remember thinking one word: Gorgeous.”

David and Victoria first crossed paths in 1997 when she attended a Manchester United football match to watch him play. Their initial interaction was brief but memorable. Victoria later reflected on this meeting in a letter to her 18-year-old self for Vogue, describing David as having “such a cute smile” and feeling a connection due to their shared values of family.

David elaborated on their first encounter during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show, recalling, “She came to a football match – soccer match – and I said ‘hi’ from across the room and that was it. I thought I’d missed my chance, and then a week later she turned up at another football match. She had a few to drink, and she gave me her number.”

Their relationship quickly blossomed, leading to their first date and eventual engagement in January 1998, just one year after they first met. Victoria fondly remembered the proposal, stating, “We’d already looked at a few rings but I didn’t know which one he had chosen. I’d told him what my dream ring would be. He remembered and had it specially made for me.”

Months before tying the knot in 1999, David and Victoria welcomed their first child together, son Brooklyn. Since then, their family has grown to include sons Romeo (21), Cruz (19), and daughter Harper (12).

The Beckhams have remained a symbol of enduring love and partnership, celebrating a quarter-century of marriage marked by mutual admiration, shared dreams, and a growing family.
