BREAKING: Court reinstates Shaibu as Edo deputy governor

In a landmark ruling, the Federal High Court in Abuja has reinstated Philip Shaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State.

The court nullified the impeachment process by the Edo State House of Assembly, deeming it unconstitutional.

The court also ordered the Inspector General of Police to immediately restore Shaibu’s security details and mandated the payment of his salaries and allowances from April.

This comes after Shaibu was removed from office in April 2024, and Godwins Omobayo was sworn in as his replacement.

Shaibu had described his removal as illegal and vowed to fight it. With this court ruling, he has been reinstated as the Deputy Governor of Edo.

This development, TRIBUNE ONLINE gathered, is a significant turn of events in the political landscape of Edo. The implications of this court ruling are yet to be fully understood, but it marks a major victory for Shaibu and his supporters.
