Ahead of the planned national protest scheduled to begin on August 1, the Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira, has appealed to Nigerian youths to shun protests and destructive tendencies.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu, state governors, and local governments are actively working to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians.
He urged citizens, particularly the youths, to be guided and not allow themselves to be used as agents of destruction.
Apatira made these remarks while receiving the Area Commander of Area D Police Command, ACP Bamidele Awoniyi, during a courtesy visit to his office.
He noted that President Tinubu’s administration has taken significant economic measures, including direct monthly allocations to local governments, approval of wage increases for workers, and more.
These measures, he stated, are aimed at ensuring grassroots development and providing the desired economic relief to Nigerians.

He also acknowledged the initiatives introduced by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State to ease economic pressures on residents.
Dr. Apatira highlighted some of the numerous economic support palliatives of his administration, including skill acquisition training programs for women and youths, micro-economic empowerment initiatives for residents, regular food support palliatives, free bus rides for residents, and school feeding programs for primary school pupils.
He added, “I want to urge our youths not to be misguided into unnecessary protests because both the Federal and State governments are addressing the challenges.
The extensive palliative measures being implemented are clear signs of the government’s dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians.
These measures will gradually yield significant improvements. Therefore, I call for unity and cooperation as the nation navigates these challenging times.
The current economic challenges are a global issue, and destructive protests are not the solution. I urge citizens to work together with the government to address the economic challenges facing the nation.”
