Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire has strongly criticised the appointment of Oladeinde Abolarin as the Ondo State Representative on the Public Complaints Commission, describing it as “a clear case of misrepresentation and a violation of the principles of fair representation”.
In a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Goodwill Akpabio, the Ondo senator who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters, expressed concern over the appointment, stating that Abolarin is not a native of Ondo State and has never represented the state in any capacity.
He emphasized that Abolarin’s appointment undermines the trust and confidence of the people of Ondo State in the Public Complaints Commission.
The lawmaker in the letter called on the Senate to review the appointment and ensure that the correct procedures are followed in selecting a representative for our great state.
“He cannot represent the interests of Ondo State when he has no understanding of our unique challenges and needs,” Senator Adegbonmire said.
“We demand a representative who truly understands our needs and can effectively advocate for us.”
“Abolarin was previously appointed by the 9th National Assembly in 2021 to represent Kogi State at the Public Complaints Commission, serving in that capacity from 2021 to 2023.
“His appointment to represent Ondo State has sparked widespread controversy, with many questioning his suitability for the role”, he added.
