On Monday, Donald Trump criticized the Paris Olympics opening ceremony as a “disgrace,” following backlash over elements of the show. Trump told Fox News, “I’m very open-minded, but I thought what they did was a disgrace.”

The ceremony faced condemnation from Catholic groups and French bishops due to a segment featuring dancers, drag queens, and a DJ in poses reminiscent of the Last Supper, despite the creators’ claims that it was not intended to depict the religious scene. This sequence sparked international criticism from Christian groups and far-right politicians on social media.

When asked by Laura Ingraham about his plans if reelected and present at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Trump responded, “We won’t be having a ‘Last Supper’ portrayed the way they did last night.”

In response to the criticism, Thomas Jolly, the director of the opening ceremony, stated that his aim was to “reconcile” and “repair” through the production.
