Lagos council boss distributes SSCE forms to 250 students

Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira has advised students and teenagers within the council area to shun violence and strive to attain excellence in their career pursuits.

The council chief gave this advice during the distribution of Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) Nov/Dec. forms to 250 students on Wednesday.

The distribution, he stated, is part of his administration’s commitment to excellence in education and also to add substance to the existence of the youths in their journey through life.

According to him, it is also aimed at making youths more productive, responsible and carve a path for those among them to desire tertiary education while also noting that ordinary-level certificate is a prerequisite for tertiary education.

He stated, “This is an expression of our administration’s commitment to adding substance to our youths in the pursuit of their education. For those that have been following the trend, we distributed SSCE forms earlier in the year to indigent students.

Our primary objective is to encourage and raise the bar of literacy and promote tertiary education among the youth. However, it is worthy of mention that this gesture goes beyond making available forms to the beneficiaries, it also avail them unique opportunities that would put them in a vantage position for future tasks.”

He congratulated the beneficiaries of the free GCE forms and urged them to seize the opportunity to excel in their academic pursuits.

Dr Apatira also announced the commencement of vocational training programme for residents in the district.

He encouraged the youths and students to strive for excellence in their vocation and academic activities.

With this, he stated, “The students will become better individuals in the future, equipped to make positive contributions to society.”
