West Ham United have completed the signing of defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United for £15 million.
The 26-year-old has committed to a seven-year contract with the Hammers.
Wan-Bissaka initially joined Manchester United from Crystal Palace in a £50 million deal in 2019, during which he scored two goals in 190 appearances for the Red Devils.
He becomes West Ham’s eighth summer signing, joining the likes of Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodriguez at London Stadium.
“It was an easy decision to join West Ham—I’m excited and happy to be here,” said Wan-Bissaka. “I can’t wait to get on the pitch, meet the players, and move forward from here.”
He added, “I see a team that is united, pushing each other to win, and supporting each other through thick and thin. Being part of that, and knowing you’re surrounded by a strong squad, is a big plus.”
Born in London, Wan-Bissaka described his return to the capital as an “amazing feeling.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed Wan-Bissaka for Manchester United in 2019, and the defender was a regular starter until Solskjaer’s departure in 2021. However, Wan-Bissaka lost his place as a regular starter under Erik ten Hag, who took over in 2022, though he still made 64 appearances in the last two seasons.
Manchester United’s move for Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui depended on Wan-Bissaka’s departure, and the Red Devils are now expected to finalize the signing of the Morocco international.
