Edo guber: Oshiomhole rallies support for Okpebholo

As the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), continues its campaign in preparation for the September 21, 2024, governorship election, the former governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has joined the campaign train to the hinterlands of Edo central senatorial district.

Oshiomhole, who spoke at the APC rally in Ewohimi during the party’s ward-to-ward campaign in the area, blamed Governor Godwin Obaseki for the underdevelopment of Esanland, particularly depriving the people of Ewohimi in Esan South-East Local Government Area of pipe borne water and quality health services.

He said that the hospital he built and equipped in the locality was abandoned to rot away by his successor, Governor Obaseki.

“I built a hospital in Ewohimi and equipped it with the necessary facilities before I left the government, but when Obaseki came, he abandoned it and left it to rot away. I built the hospital because I knew the distance between Ewohimi and Irrua, where they have a hospital in Esanland. I tell you today that the hospital is not functioning.

“Also, I felt for the people of Ewohimi and the environment that they didn’t have portable drinking water. Hence, I decided to provide water for them. I awarded a contract to provide water for the people by connecting the Ugbalo Water Project to Agadaga in Ewohimi. I Awarded the contract to an Esan man, I paid 50% of the contract, but when Obaseki came, he stopped it,” Oshiomhole said.

According to him, if the water projected had been sustained, it would have connected the neighbouring community around Ewohimi and made the people comfortable.

Speaking the allegation of calling Ewohimi people witches and wizards, the former governor said he never said so, explaining that “I only use it to illustrate while Asue Ighodalo has never slept in Ewohimi or stayed to eat his mother’s food at Ewohimi.

“We are here to solicit your votes for our candidate. Monday Okpebholo will not disappoint you people. I know since 2007, Ewohimi people have always voted for me, and this time around, don’t fail me, ” he pleaded.

On his part, the Director General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Matthew Urhoghide, appealed to the people to vote for APC on election day.

The governorship candidate of the party, Okpebholo, appealed to the people of Ewohimi to support and vote for him in the September 21st governorship election, declaring that the APC had solutions to the problems of the people.
