As Anambra marks its 33rd year of creation from the old Anambra State, technocrat and business mogul Chief Joseph Onuorah has paid a glowing tribute to the founding fathers of the new Anambra State.
The current Anambra State was carved out of the old Anambra State, which then included Enugu, on August 27, 1991.
Speaking to newsmen about the 33rd anniversary of the state’s creation, the Ndiowu Orumba North Local Government Area business mogul stated that the state has made significant progress in many sectors compared to its counterparts nationwide, but noted that there is still room for improvement.
Chief Onuorah particularly praised the various roles played by the former governors of the state since 1999, including the late Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Dr. Chris Ngige, Mr. Peter Obi, Chief Willie Obiano, and the current governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
He pointed out that the previous governors played significant roles in the development of the state, with Mbadinuju’s administration laying solid foundations like the construction of the State House of Assembly, Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, and the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre. He also acknowledged Dr. Ngige’s administration for its focus on road construction and the payment of workers’ salaries, among other achievements.

According to the international business mogul, Mr. Obi’s administration was known for his Anambra Integrated Development Strategy (ANIDS), which he used to initiate many signature projects in the state, including the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Igbariam Campus, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka, and the construction of primary healthcare centers across virtually all communities in the state.
Chief Onuorah praised the administration of the immediate past governor of the state, Chief Obiano, for building the Chinua Achebe International Airport in Umueri, the International Conference Centre in Awka, and for establishing the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), among other legacy projects.
He emphasized that Governor Soludo’s administration, within its two years, has also made significant progress in road construction, healthcare services, education, and other areas, stating that Anambra has been blessed with focused and committed leaders over the years.
Chief Onuorah noted that the state has become a shining example nationwide in both primary and secondary education, science and technology, industrialization, and political stability.
He called on Governor Soludo to do more in the area of security, as adequate security is essential to attract more investors to the state. He also wished the government and the good people of Anambra State a happy 33rd anniversary.
