PDP’s Abdulrafiu Yakubu, supporters join APC in Kogi

A prominent member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Abdulrafiu Yakubu, along with over 1,000 supporters, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Announcing his decision in Lokoja on Thursday, Yakubu criticised the PDP, stating, “The PDP has nothing to offer in Kogi State.

“Sometimes you may believe you’ve made the right decision, but upon reevaluating, it becomes clear that making a change is necessary.”

He explained that his shift back to the APC was the result of extensive consultation and reflection. “My decision to return to the APC is rooted in my belief in progress.

“We have always sought the advancement of our people, and the APC represents 100 percent of what we are striving for,” Yakubu said.

Yakubu emphasised his commitment to progressive politics and the alignment with the vision of Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

“The call for a real political alliance with progressive minds has led me back to the APC, where I believe I can contribute to the party’s success and align with its values.”

He expressed gratitude to the APC stakeholders, acknowledging their support. “I see my return to the APC as a strategic gain for the party and a loss for the opposition.

“Every ending signifies a new beginning, and I am enthusiastic about rejoining the party where I truly belong,” Yakubu added.
