Cross River State Government has encouraged its citizens to focus on improving the state’s image.
Mr Edem Darlington, the Deputy Press Secretary to the Governor, issued the appeal during a media presentation of the “Think Cross River” logo on Wednesday in Calabar, the capital of Cross River.
Darlington stated that “Think Cross River” acts as a platform for promoting peaceful coexistence among the state’s inhabitants and highlights the state’s significant tourism prospects, along with business and investment opportunities available there.
“Thinking Cross River means striving for unity and working together towards common goals. It means supporting initiatives and policies that benefit the greater good of the state, even if it means making sacrifices.
“With a Governor who prioritizes the needs of the people, it is our responsibility as citizens to also prioritize the needs of the state. We must think about how our actions can contribute to the development and progress of Cross River.
“Thinking Cross River in everything we do means embracing inclusivity, diversity, and equality. It means valuing and respecting all individuals and their contributions, regardless of their background or social status.
He commended the governor for significant achievements during the past year of his administration, highlighting several notable initiatives, including the establishment of an alternative route to Akwa Ibom state from Ikoneto in Odukpani LGA, proper drainage management around Ndok junction in Ogoja, and the approval of 10 billion naira for retirees’ gratuities.
“We as a people, are also part of government. So, the actual responsibility must begin with us.
“Think Cross River” is a tool to galvanise all forms of support for the current administration and even beyond this current administration.”
