Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the six local government areas that constitute Abia South Senatorial District have declared their support for the position of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDPGF) and the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) over the crisis rocking Rivers State chapter of the party.
The party’s chairmen in the district, in a communique released after a meeting held on September 2, 2024, said that they were fully in support of the decision of the PDPGF and the BoT to back Governor Sim Fubara as the leader of the party in the state.
In the communique, signed by the six chairmen including Signed: Hon. Chief Seth Agomou, Obingwa LGA; Hon. Kingsley Enyite, Ukwa West; Hon. Promise Iheasimuo, Ugbunabo; Hon. Samuel Atulegwu,Aba North; Sir, Okechi Nwaohu, Ukwa East LGA; Chief Emeka Egwim, Aba South LGA, also called for viable steps that would ensure a return of tranquility into the party in Rivers State.
The chairmen also backed the position of the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara for standing firmly behind Governor Fubara in respect of the crisis rocking Rivers State.
According to them, they are expressing implicit confidence on the PDPGF, the BoT and the National Executive Committee of the party in their decisions to support Governor Fubara of Rivers State.
The communique read: “During the monthly meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmen of Abia State Senatorial District held on Monday 27th September, 2024, the following decisions/resolutions were voted and passed by the forum.
“That we have implicit confidence, trust and faith in the capacity and astuteness of our own son and leader; Former President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Dr. Adolphus Ndunewe Wabara in handling the affairs of our party as the Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman, as seasoned politician and career diplomat, he has garnered inexhaustible experience(s) In various fields of life endeavour which serves as a big asset in his present position In the party. With him and genuine support of other BOT members, the SOUL of our party wit be redeemed and saved for e brighter and prosperous future.
“We also support the position of BOT and PDP Governor’s Forum as it relates to the current political crises ravaging Rivers State and maybe other areas.
“That we support wholly and and entirety the setting up of the Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees to look into the current problems and misunderstandings in our party. And appeal that those saddled with these responsibilities should handle them adequately, efficiently and diligently, notwithstanding whose ox is gored as to restore order and discipline in our great party PDP.
“That we support every viable step(s) and decisions of NWC, NEC and BOT of our party that will lead to full restoration of tranquility, discipline and orderliness as envisaged by the founding fathers of our great party — the Peoples Democratic Party.”
