The Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Adebara, has officially unveiled two sets of local government election petition tribunals in preparation for the September 21 local government elections. Each tribunal consists of three members, led by two chairpersons.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Justice Adebara emphasized the importance of resolving election cases promptly.
He noted that election petitions are unique due to their public policy implications and stressed that establishing election tribunals is a crucial part of the democratic process to address and resolve post-election disputes.
Justice Adebara highlighted the integrity and competence of the selected tribunal members, expressing confidence in their ability to carry out their duties impartially and effectively.
He also mentioned that the exclusion of members of the Bar from this selection was not a reflection on their capabilities, with a promise to include them in future appointments.
On behalf of the newly sworn-in members, Chief Magistrate Jibril Bio Salihu conveyed gratitude to the state judiciary and committed to fulfilling their responsibilities diligently..
