Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has commented on Jadon Sancho’s treatment, suggesting that the player “needs love” to thrive after his challenging period at Manchester United.
Sancho made a notable debut for Chelsea on Saturday night, coming off the bench at halftime and earning Player of the Match in their 1-0 victory over Bournemouth. His performance was part of an impressive showing from Chelsea’s substitutes, with Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku also contributing, the latter scoring the winning goal.
Maresca, speaking at the post-match press conference, praised Sancho’s display and emphasized the need for support: “Jadon was good, Joao [Felix] was good, Tosin [Adarabioyo] was good, and Christo [Nkunku] was very good. We decided to use Christo as a number nine as he is good in the box. I have the feeling Jadon needs love.”
Sancho expressed his joy at making his Chelsea debut and contributing to the team’s win. “It’s amazing to make my debut for Chelsea and just being back playing. I’m very grateful,” he said. “The team played very well, we dug deep to get the three points. I’ve been working hard for this moment, and I’m happy to have had the chance. The staff and teammates made me feel welcome from the start, and I’m so happy to feel this comfortable.”
