EPL: Haaland Breaks Rooney’s Record with Brace in Man City’s Win Against Brentford

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland continued his remarkable start to the Premier League season by breaking yet another record during their 2-1 win over Brentford.

Haaland netted twice in quick succession in the first half, overturning an early goal from Yoane Wissa, who scored for Brentford within 22 seconds.

These were Haaland’s eighth and ninth goals of the campaign, breaking a 13-year-old record previously held by Wayne Rooney. Rooney had set the record with eight goals for Manchester United in the first four games of the 2011/12 season.

Haaland had already made history by scoring the most goals (7) in a team’s first three matches of a Premier League campaign, following his hat-trick against West Ham.
