Ballon d’Or: “He’s an extraordinary footballer,” says Guardiola on the player winning.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed his belief that Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is capable of winning the Ballon d’Or.

Guardiola made the comments ahead of Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League clash with Inter Milan on Wednesday.

Martinez is one of the 30 players shortlisted for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, with the winner set to be announced on October 28.

Speaking in a recent interview, as quoted by All About Argentina, Guardiola said:

“Lautaro Martínez definitely has the potential to win the Ballon d’Or. While I’d prefer a Manchester City player to claim the award, there’s no denying he’s an exceptional talent.

“As a captain, a forward, and someone who plays for Argentina—the World Cup and Copa América champions—you have to be special. Otherwise, it’s hard to achieve such recognition.”
