The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, has lauded the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, for setting good examples for political office holders with quality representation.
The monarch stated this on Tuesday, during the flag-off of the reconstruction of Oko and Ada road, in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun.
Oba Ajayi was represented by the Radanuwa of Idado Sagamu, Oba Oriyomi Soile, in a ceremony that had in attendance the Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, represented by Kolade Segun-Okeowo; the Asiwaju of Remoland, Solomon Onafowokan; the Ewusi of Makun, Oba Timothy Akinsanya; the State Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs, Mrs Funmi Efuwape among others, called on the political class to ensure that they truly represent the interests of the people and make life better for all.
The traditional ruler urged the lawmaker not to relent in her efforts to facilitate more developmental projects for the federal constituency.
The road project is part of the constituency projects initiated by the lawmaker representing Remo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Adewunmi Onanuga.
“Our lawmaker has done well, and she is making us proud with her intention to ensure that this road, which had been in a poor state for a long time, is reconstructed for the good of all.
“You are no doubt laying good examples for others to follow because the very essence of politicians being in office is to serve the people and embark on policies and projects that can aid our development and growth. That is how we can have a better nation that we can all be truly proud of,” the monarch added.
Daniel said the road reconstruction that would run through to Simawa area of the council would boost socio socio-economic well-being of the people in the area.
The former governor said the road reconstruction is a collaboration between him and Onanuga, saying he facilitated the second phase of the road project.
He said, “This our best time in Sagamu Local Government. Sagamu is having good representation in the National Assembly. The road will serve as alternative link to the Sagamu Benin highway. It will not be an abandoned project.”
The Ewusi of Makun, Sagamu, Oba Timothy Akinsanya, also commended the federal lawmaker for facilitating the reconstruction of the road, saying that it is an intervention that impacts the socio-economic life of the residents of the community.
Onanuga also restated that the road project is a collaboration between her and Daniel while adding that it was in fulfillment of her campaign promises.
Onanuga said, “Having been conversant with the sorry state of this road for too long and its capability to further make life better for our people, I push for its inclusion in this year’s budget, and by the grace of God, we are going to get it done in record time.
“We are beginning with the first phase, after which we shall commence the second phase. Luckily, our distinguished Senator, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, also has an interest in the road, so the Senator has equally promised to start the road from Simawa end while we are starting from Sagamu Haven junction”.
