At the 33rd anniversary celebration of Osun State’s creation in Osogbo, Senator Olu Alabi, a founding father of the state, expressed deep gratitude for being honored by the Osun State Government and Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke.

In his acceptance speech, Senator Alabi reflected on the significance of the day, stating, “I stand before you today with a profound sense of humility and gratitude. I am deeply honored to receive this recognition on this momentous occasion as we celebrate 33 years since the creation of our beloved Osun State.”

He praised Governor Adeleke and the state government for acknowledging the contributions of those who played a role in the establishment of Osun State on August 27, 1991. Alabi emphasized that the award symbolizes patriotism, perseverance, and selflessness.

“This recognition is not mine alone,” he said. “It belongs to all our forbearers who fought tirelessly for the creation of this state, including Chief Raji Ayoola Adeleke, the father of the incumbent governor and a prominent figure in our history.”

Senator Alabi dedicated the award to the memory of all patriots, both living and departed, who contributed to the state’s formation. He recounted his journey from his medical practice in northern Nigeria to serving as Commissioner of Health in the old Oyo State in 1988, highlighting the dedication and sacrifices made by him and others to achieve the creation of Osun State.

He praised the current leadership under Governor Adeleke, noting the progress made and expressing hope for continued development. Alabi urged the people of Osun to remain united and uphold values of diligence, integrity, and resilience, stressing that the state’s future lies in their collective efforts.

Concluding his speech, Senator Alabi thanked the Osun State Government for the honor and reiterated his commitment to working towards a prosperous future for Osun State. “May the living spring of Osun continue to flow with grace, prosperity, and blessings for us all,” he said.
