Akwa Ibom: Gov Eno charges new PDP excos on membership expansion

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno has charged the newly elected chairman and executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Akwa Ibom State chapter, to adopt all legitimate means to expand the membership base of the party in view of the October 05 Local Government Elections and the 2027 general elections.

The Governor gave the charge in his address shortly after the election and swearing-in of new state executives of the party at Uyo Township Stadium.

Eno congratulated Elder Akpan for his reelection as the state chairman of the party and his executive for their successful election, assuring that he will continue to lead the State with integrity and honesty, adding that his administration would remain responsive and responsible, while continuing to galvanize the Youths as well as other Akwa Ibomites to ARISE.

“Let me seize this opportunity to congratulate you on your well deserved election into our party new executive committee. I charge to keep our party afloat and conquer new territories and expand the membership base of the party.”

While congratulating the immediate past party exco for leading the party to victory in various elections in the state, he called on all party faithful to give the new Exco the necessary support to succeed in the tasks ahead especially, the October 5, local government election.

Governor Eno appreciated his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel,for taking part in the Congress, representative from the national Secretariat, and the Congress Organising Committee, led by Uwem Okoko, for what he described as a well-organised congress.

In his remark, the immediate past Governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel, appreciated the party leadership for successfully driving the party to success and supporting Pastor Umo Eno to victory in the 2023 elections and his continuous support for the new leadership to succeed on their mandate.

Conducting the election with 3,765 voters, the National Chairman, 2024 PDP Congress in Akwa Ibom State, Prof. Ibrahim Umar expressed appreciation for the peaceful leadership of the state by the PDP, saying it was a pace setting gesture to see the state produce consensus candidates in all the 39 offices contested for in the Congress.

He expressed optimism that PDP as a party, will bounce back stronger and the whole country is looking at Akwa Ibom State as the pilot.

In his acceptance speech, the reelected Chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan assured that the Exco will work together to maintain the winning history of the party and more importantly, to ensure the re-election of Governor Umo Eno in 2027.

Other elected officers include: Harrison Ekpo, Deputy Chairman, Ibanga Brownson, Secretary, and Augustine Akpan, Inemesit Itina, Barr Ekpong Edemumoh as Vice Chairmen I, 2 and 3, Edwin Ebiese, Publicity Secretary, among others.
