Taraba residents urge Gov Kefas to commence stomach infrastructure project

Residents of Taraba State have called on Governor Agbu Kefas to immediately commence the stomach infrastructure project to balance his administration’s plans to build the Taraba of the citizens’ dreams.

The residents also appealed to the governor to consider former governor Darius Ishaku’s advice that he, Kefas, should give much attention to stomach infrastructure projects for people to give 100 per cent support for his administration.

The Nigeria Tribune reports that the immediate past governor of Taraba, Darius Ishaku, had advised Governor Agbu Kefas to give much attention to stomach infrastructure for citizens to support his government’s success.

Some residents who spoke to our correspondent commended the governor’s transformational policies, like the declaration of free basic education, the slashing of tertiary institution fees by 50 per cent, and the steps to boost Agriculture in the state. They, however, called on the governor to be aware that physical hunger is overwhelming the state and requires urgent attention.

Malam Suleiman Yahaya told our correspondent that “for me, I will say Governor Kefas has not started working yet because he has not commenced the most important project, which is the stomach infrastructure project that former governor Darius Ishaku advised him to pay much attention to.

“I am not against physical projects, but I want Governor Kefas to see the stomach infrastructure as a major project to give much attention to,” He appealed.

Two prominent PDP members who pleaded not to be mentioned in the news appealed to Governor Kefas to be serious with the stomach infrastructure project to attract more support for his government.

“You know us as prominent PDP members here in Taraba, and we know what people are going through. There is serious hunger, and we want Governor Kefas to commence the stomach infrastructure project.

Aside from serious hunger on the ground, we want to advise the governor that any leader who wants to succeed gives generously. Both the former governor Jolly Nyame and the late former governor Danbaba Suntai were generous and were the best-performing governors in the history of Taraba State.

“We want Governor Kefas to emulate Late Danbaba’s generous lifestyle for even the opposition to support his government,” They advised.

Another group of residents who spoke to the Nigerian Tribune included Mr. Titus Agbu, Victoria Abayang, and Sadiq Mamud, who both expressed fear that there is a looming danger of petty crime in the state following the lack of stomach infrastructure and appealed to Governor Kefas to commence the project to avert the looming situation.

“Our fear is that all these hungry idle boys roaming the streets may become a major nuisance to us very soon if something is not done urgently. If you go around the town, you will notice that there are too many young people on the streets, which is not a good sign.

“In as much as we need physical projects, we wish to appeal to Governor Kefas that we seriously need the stomach infrastructure project, which to us is more key.

“We want Governor Agbu Kefas to emulate Jolly Nyame and Late Danbaba’s Suntai, who are the best-performing governors in the history of Taraba and did very well in executing the stomach infrastructure project during their time.

“The fact is, people support the government the most when money is flowing, and no stingy leader succeeds in governance. We want Governor Kefas to be generous like Nyame and Danbaba to succeed and be commended like them,” The residents advised.
