The coalition of Taraba youths, led by the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Prince Gara Nongha, called on those opposing Governor Agbu Kefas’s N206bn loan request from commercial banks to reconsider their stance on expediting the state’s development.
In a press release issued to journalists in Jalingo, Nongha stated that the loan facility requested by the governor is in the best interest of the state.
He emphasised that the youths have observed the transparency and sincerity of the Governor, who has clearly outlined how the funds will be spent and the sources for loan repayment.
“This administration aims to transform the state to become more relevant and provide better services to the people, offering modern development and improved services.
It is due to the transparency and accountable leadership of Dr Agbu Kefas that we voice our support for the loan request, which is intended for the growth and development of our dear state.
We call for the maximum support and cooperation of everyone to enable the state government to access the loan, which is targeted at providing public infrastructure such as school buildings, healthcare development, and road construction, among other projects.
We stand behind the government 100 per cent in this endeavour and urge those opposing it to allow the government to access the loan for the benefit of the state. Together, we can make Taraba great,” the statement read.
The youth also commended the Governor for involving the youth in the state’s administration and praised the state government’s efforts to improve security, protect lives and property, and rekindle hope for a better future.
Our correspondent reports that Governor Kefas’s request to obtain a N206bn loan from four commercial banks was halted by a petition from some state indigenes who wrote to the Central Bank to prevent the state banks from granting the loan.
