Amidst the current economic challenges, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Justice Forum (JF) in Lagos State have appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu.
The political group led by the House of Representatives member representing Ikeja, Hon. James Faleke, made the appeal at a programme tagged ”A Special Day of Inter-denominational Prayer for the Nation and the President” held in Lagos on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Prince Tajudeen Olusi said that the group was the first to come up in Lagos APC, adding that it was a political group that produced Asiwaju Tinubu as governor in 1999.
Olusi said that those who control the Lagos APC are mostly in the Justice Forum, adding that it is a group that gives equal opportunities to all.
He acknowledged the spread of the group’s membership at the grassroots, urging the members to continue to hold their meetings.
”Some people in our party do not know the history of Lagos APC. Those who know decide to claim ignorance, which is their own problem. Justice Forum is the oldest and first caucus in the Lagos APC. We dominate the party both at the state level and the local government level. Any other group comes after us.
“You all should continue to hold your meetings in your various local governments. For us to be able to control the crowd at this event, we only ask each local government to come with 50 members, and you all can see how the crowd is,” said Olusi.
Meanwhile, Hon. James Faleke, who is also the Lagos State Coordinator of the forum, appreciated the understanding and support of all Nigerians in the face of the present economic realities.
He assured citizens that their patience and perseverance would not be in vain.
The lawmaker said the essence of the prayers offered to Mr President was to celebrate him and also ask God to guide him to realise the gains of his economic reforms.
“Asiwaju is a juggernaut; he is a generous man; he has built human capacity; he has delivered in Lagos; and he has already started to deliver in Nigeria.
“What we know of him in the last 30 years has not changed, and there is no way he is going to change.
“He is going to serve Nigeria with all his heart because he is a leader, and you don’t find too many of him in any generation.
“After Awolowo, it is Asiwaju in Yoruba land, and nobody can dispute it. He is our man and the president of Nigeria,” he said.
Faleke wished the president more happy years on earth.
Also, the Chairman, Nigerian Christian Association, Lagos State, Mr. Stephen Adegbite, prayed that God should grant the president and his cabinet wisdom to take the country to enviable heights.
“The special prayer is that God should grant our dear president good health, guide him as he continues with the great task of nation-building, and bless all his endeavours to uplift the nation and its people.
“Yesterday, the president marked his 72nd birthday. I also joined millions of Nigerians and beyond to pray for this truly patriotic leader.
“May the Almighty God continue to bless him with the wisdom to successfully steer the ship of Nigeria to a glorious place,” he said.
Adegbite, who is also the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, prayed to God to grant the president resounding health to perform his duties as president.
An Islamic cleric, Mr. Akeem Lawal,also prayed to God to grant the president the wisdom and knowledge with which to navigate the country out of the current socio-economic challenges.
Lawal said God chose President Bola Tinubu to lead the country at this particular point in time, adding that he was optimistic that the economy would be revived under the present administration.
Some of the political leaders present at the programme were the chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Deputy Governor; Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, former Deputy Governor and GAC member; Alhaji Abiodun Ogunleye, Member of GAC; Otunba Bush Alebiosu, GAC member; Prince Rabiu Oluwa, GAC member; and former Lagos APC Chairman, Otunba Henry Ajomale.
Others were the former Deputy Governor and Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Princess Joke Orelope, former Deputy Governor, Princess Sarah Sosan, House of Representatives member, Hon. Yemi Alli, and several representatives of the group at the 57 local governments.
