A grassroots politician and entrepreneur, Hon. Olatunji Smith Balogun, popularly known as Kollabo, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the mutual respect, interest, and political affinity between him and the Oyo State and South West leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Alhaji Rasheed Aremu Adebisi Olopoeyan.
This commendation follows the recent political appointment slots extended to NNPP supporters, allowing them to serve as supervisory councillors in various local governments of the state.
Balogun, one of the children of the late prominent Ibadanland politician and labor activist Abdul-Ghani Kolawole Balogun, who was the first chairman of the defunct Ibadan Municipal Government (IMG) from 1977 to 1979, contested in the 2023 general election for the Oyo House of Assembly in Ibadan North East Constituency 2.
He also contested for a chairmanship post in this year’s Oyo State local government elections, both under the NNPP.

He described the appointments as a renewed hope for NNPP members and a testament to the leadership qualities of the party’s leader, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan.
Balogun further described Olopoeyan as a consummate, energetic, and transparent leader who always involves his members.
He also urged the newly appointed supervisory councillors to be exemplary representatives of the party.
Additionally, Balogun acknowledged Governor Makinde’s leadership qualities, describing him as a patriotic, magnanimous, selfless, visionary, and innovative politician who is advancing the socio-economic and political development of the state.
