Gov Sule’s endorsement of Ganduje, betrayal to North-Central — Group

A group known as the “All Progressives Congress (APC) North Central Forum” has alleged that certain individuals and groups have been recruited by some forces to betray the region by endorsing the embattled National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

In a statement by its Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, the group claimed that the desperation of these dark forces within the North Central region is becoming evident through their greed and insensitivity, particularly in their betrayal regarding the party’s National Chairmanship position.

Zazzaga asserted that the North Central region will not be deterred by the actions of a few betrayers and will remain steadfast in its efforts to reclaim the APC’s National Chairmanship position, which the party had designated for the region.

He argued that after the resignation of the former National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, who hails from Nasarawa State in the North Central region, the position should not have been moved to another region.

The forum’s Chairman emphasized that the role played by the North Central region in the success of the APC since 2015 cannot be overstated, including its contribution to the emergence of President Bola Tinubu in 2023. He also noted that the region secured five out of six governorship seats within the region.

“Therefore, the endorsement of Ganduje on Monday by a former President of the Senate, Ameh Ebute, who claims to represent some APC elders from the Central region, is laughable and inconsequential,” Zazzaga said.

“The endorsement, which comes four days after the North Central Governors’ Forum, led by Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, also endorsed Ganduje, is a source of concern for us. There is no way someone or a group can claim to be from a region while simultaneously acting against the progress and interests of that region.”

He further described Ebute as a “lone ranger” navigating a lonely political space with no support, acting as a puppet for his paymasters to betray his geopolitical zone for a “paltry bowl of porridge.”

“As for Governor Sule, we are giving him one week to apologize to the people of the North Central region for his actions, or we will begin mobilizing our party faithful and supporters against him. Thankfully, no other North Central governor backed him, as they all understand the importance of the struggle for the betterment of the region.”

“In conclusion, we urge everyone to check our forum out; we have consistently advocated for the interests and progress of both the APC and the North Central region for years through our actions, humanitarian services, training, publications, community development, security initiatives, and educational advancement of the people.”

“Our support for Tinubu has always been evident before, during, and after the 2023 election—not like the few hastily recruited individuals who are now working against the region’s interests ahead of the forthcoming NEC meeting of the party.”
