As the election of 27 chairmen and 305 councillors of Imo State Local Government Areas continued, some of the electorate praised the entire process, describing it as healthy.
Speaking after casting his vote at the ISIEC booth 006 at Government Development Secondary School along Douglas Road, Owerri, at about 1:30 pm, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Northern Affairs and Gender (Men), Hon. Suleiman Ibrahim, commended the modalities put in place by ISIEC to ensure a free and fair election in the state.
Suleiman said that the entire school premises where he cast his vote were peaceful and devoid of any trouble.
On the arrival of electoral materials to the polling centre, the SA noted that despite the late arrival of materials, the voting process was orderly, adding that a good number of voters turned out to participate in choosing their preferred candidates.
Also speaking after casting her vote at booth 004 at Government Development Secondary School, Douglas Road, Owerri, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Northern Affairs (Women), Hon. Fatima Hamza, said she was very impressed with the way and manner the election was being conducted.
She paid special tribute to the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) for living up to general expectations, given the peaceful conduct of the election.
The SA, who cast her vote around 1:45 pm, said that with the way the election was being conducted at her polling unit, she believed it would be the same in other polling units and areas in the state.
She commended her Northern community and the entire Imo community for coming out in great numbers to vote for their preferred candidates.
However, in some areas monitored, such as Emmanuel College, Uzii Primary School, City Primary School Amaram Extension Owerri, and City Secondary School Wetheral Road Owerri, there was late arrival of electoral materials to the centres.
The Nigerian Tribune gathered that all the electoral materials were distributed at the ISIEC headquarters, Orlu Road, in the early hours of Saturday, from where they were taken to various LGA headquarters in the state and then to the voting centres across the 27 LGAs and 305 electoral wards.
