The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has cautioned the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) against engaging with a list of candidates not approved by the state leadership recognised by the APGA national body.
APGA declared its readiness to participate in the upcoming local government elections, including the Rivers State election scheduled for October 2024.
The party’s National Administrative Secretary, Mr. Okoro Chinedum Benedict, emphasized that APGA only recognizes candidates under the leadership of Ajentekebia Tamuno-Ibi Harry as the acting chairman in Rivers State.
Any election conducted with unauthorized candidates would be considered null and void.
Benedict warned RSIEC against dealing with individuals not approved by the national leadership, stating that such actions would amount to unlawful exclusion and render the entire process invalid.
The party stressed that recognition should be accorded to the Mr Harry-led leadership in the state by the electoral umpire in the forthcoming council poll.
APGA’s national leadership, under Chief Edozie Njoku and Alhaji Muyideen A. Iman, has been recognized by INEC, and states’ chapters should take instructions from them.
