The Yobe State Government has said it has not approved the N70,000 new minimum wage.
The government refuted claims circulating online about approving a new minimum wage, describing the information as false and misleading.
In a statement issued in Damaturu on Thursday, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs for Governor Mai Mala Buni, clarified that the state government has not yet made any official announcement regarding the new minimum wage.
The government is still in the process of deliberation and will issue a formal statement once a decision has been reached.
“The Yobe Government has been made aware of a false and misleading social media post claiming that a new minimum wage has been approved.

The government has not released any statement on this matter and will communicate any updates once they are finalized,” said Mohammed.
He criticised the unauthorized post for being irresponsible and misleading, noting that it lacked specifics and failed to indicate its origin, rendering it professionally discredited.
Additionally, a national daily that was mistakenly associated with the post has clarified that the logo used was not theirs, and the story was not published on their website.
According to Mohammed, the public is advised to disregard misleading posts.
